Planets, Stars, Nebulae, Galaxies – Universe Size Comparison 2009 [HD]

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

***READ THIS BEFORE ASKING ANYTHING***

This is the ultimate size comparison video that you can find on the internet in HD.
Starts with the tinyest dwarf planets of our solar system, then continues with large planets, dwarf stars, stars giant/supergiant/hypergiant stars, nebulae, globular clusters and galaxies.
There is the famous VY Canis Majoris rated as the biggest star known, but very few know that that the incredible IC 1101 is the largest known object in the entire universe. Only galaxy clusters are bigger than it.

Hope you enjoy this one.

FAQ:
-Sizes are not 100% accurate as there is no way to directly measure them.
-Star sizes may change in the future, and new stars may eventually appear into this biggest stars list

How much space is needed to raise a chinese water dragon?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have desk space at home of 21 1/2 " high 2′ wide and 31" in length and was wondering if building a reptile tank to fit in that space would my reptile have enough room? Also how would I go about building it and what materials would I need?

Water dragons need ht because they are climbers they also need length! provide branches to climb on!They need a space at least 2x their total length enclosure will have to be a min 6ft long side to side,2-3 feet deep and 4-6 feet high to do it right!

How can the observable universe be 46 billion light years in radius?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

The radius of the universe is stated to be 46 billion light years, and it’s age 13.7 billion years. Does this mean that the universe expands faster than the speed of light in our 4 dimensions?

That’s the current theory, yes.

What planets were visible during the 1967 total solar eclipse?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

In 1967, the Sun, the Moon, and five planets visible with the naked eye were all in conjunction with each other during a solar eclipse. This made the viewing of Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and what two other planets possible?

The Space Elevator

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

The Space Elevator will reduce the cost of getting from earth to space. It will also allow us to take very large payloads into space very easily, very safely. Because of that, we can build cities on the moon. We can build space stations. We can build large solar arrays in space to collect energy from the sun and beam it down to earth.

How would space elevator affect the average person?

Through for example much faster telecommunication rates — you can have any kind of data rates you want, and videophones will be as common as a cell phone. And the solar power energy we’ll collect can relieve our dependence on oil. That in itself will change a lot of things it will reduce pollution and it will change world politics, hopefully even stopping some of the conflicts.
